To prepare for חג הסוכות, which begins Wednesday evening, I'd like each of you to find and share a video that pertains to a major theme or aspect of the holiday. Watch it, and then copy it into a comment below, along with a short description of the main ideas. Then watch and enjoy your classmates' videos.
חג שמח!!
In my video, Rabbi Yaakov Salomon talks about why we celebrate Sukkot in the fall. Wouldn't it make for sense to celebrate it in the spring? One of the reasons he gives is that we are trying to show that we are doing it for the commandment and not just because it's spring and the weather is nice. Another reason he gives is that Sukkot is the end of the time of repentance and that we are all so caught up in technology and stuff that we need to take a minute to look up at the stars and thank Hashem. My understanding of this is that even though we just asked Hashem for forgiveness, we may have not really taken a second to look at everything He's done for us. And Sukkot is a reminder that we should thank Hashem for all that he has given us and all the we have.

This video talks about the requirements of a Sukkah as well as what is kosher and what is not. It talks about how tall a Sukkah can or cant be. It can't be too short, and it can't be too small. It also speaks about where you are allowed to build your Sukkah. You cant build it if it is attached to a live plant for Schach. You can build it in a tree, but you can only use it on Chold Moed. You can build it on a boat or a came or attached to a cart as long as you dont mind getting wet or the weather conditions.
This video is about the correct way to shake the lulav and etrog on Succot.
